ECTA: 44th edition in Dublin

From 17th to 19th June 2026, the PAPERZ IP team travelled to Dublin to attend the 44th ECTA Annual Conference. Hundreds of Intellectual Property (IP) professionals gathered in the Irish capital to discuss the latest developments and challenges in the sector. We are always delighted to take part in this annual event, which brings together experts to explore the latest issues surrounding trademarks and designs.

This year, Agathe Curis, Head of Strategy and Development, and Camille Champion, Founder of PAPERZ IP, welcomed visitors at our booth, where they were available to answer questions and discuss our documentary research services.

A new highlight for this edition: PAPERZ IP was also proud to sponsor the Friday Lunch on 19th June.

Here’s a look back at this intellectual property must-attend event.

ECTA 2026 in Dublin: “Where bold ideas find green lights to grow.”

Dynamic and rich in culture, Dublin provided the perfect setting to welcome intellectual property professionals from around the world and discuss the key issues shaping trademark and design law.

This year, ECTA’s theme was “Green Light for Growth.” The Clayton Hotel, which hosted the conference, was illuminated in green throughout the event, creating the perfect backdrop as Agathe and Camille welcomed visitors at our booth.

Perhaps you stopped by? At our booth, a glowing book caught visitors’ attention, reflecting on their smiling faces.

ECTA highlights the key challenges facing intellectual property

Following the opening speech by ECTA President Carina Gommers, the conference featured a series of insightful presentations.

We were particularly pleased to attend presentations by João Negrão, Executive Director of the EUIPO, Luke Minford from the Rouse Group, and Fabrizio Caretta from Dolce & Gabbana.

Speakers from across Europe also shared their perspectives on some of today’s most pressing topics. Sessions covered subjects including AI and the rise of dupes in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, a comparison of copyright law in Europe and the United States, the impact of AI on design protection, and recent developments in European case law.

Note: We have already explored the risks associated with AI, particularly regarding evidence gathering in intellectual property research. You can read our article on the topic here.

A cultural highlight: visiting the Guinness Storehouse

Each year, ECTA organizes a cultural activity in the host city, offering attendees the opportunity to unwind after a busy day of conferences while continuing to connect with fellow IP professionals in a more relaxed setting.

This year, participants were invited to visit the iconic Guinness Storehouse. Located in the heart of historic Dublin, this famous brewery tells the story of Ireland’s world-renowned Guinness beer.

PAPERZ IP sponsors the closing lunch

On the final day of the conference, PAPERZ IP was delighted to sponsor the lunch. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed sharing this moment with you.

It is always a pleasure to discuss your intellectual property challenges, exchange ideas and introduce the documentary research solutions we provide.

A big thank you to all the members of ECTA for organizing another outstanding event and to all the participants for the quality of the discussions.

Our team is now back in France, already looking ahead to the next edition. The destination for ECTA’s 45th Annual Conference has already been announced: in 2027, the IP community will gather under the Italian sun.

Will you be there? Feel free to get in touch to arrange a meeting.
