Sharing Our Expertise with Future Intellectual Property Professionals

On Wednesday, March 19, our founder Camille spoke to CEIPI students as part of a course dedicated to “The Importance of Documentary Research for IP Professionals.”

The aim of this session was to raise awareness among Master 2 students about the strategic importance of documentary research, given that:

– most designs have not been officially registered;

– evidence of trademark use or reputation can be gathered through research for example in the press and on the Internet.

As they prepare to join law firms or companies, these future practitioners will indeed need to be able to verify information or gather solid evidence to support their cases.

Drawing on the expertise developed by our team over the years, Camille was pleased to share her experience and best practices with students on the 2024/2025 programme of the following courses:

– Master 2 IP LAW AND IMMATERIAL PROPERTY VALUATION

– Master 2 IP LAW AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE

– Master 2 IP LAW AND DATA SCIENCE

– Master 2 EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL IP LAW

– Long Course TRADEMARKS AND DESIGNS

This presentation used concrete examples and illustrations to better understand the strategic impact of documentary searches in professional practice.

Indeed, these searches are of decisive importance in a variety of cases, whether to establish the notoriety of a trademark, find proofs of use, date a competitor’s product, or conduct prior art searches as part of a dispute.

We hope this session helped students gain a better understanding of the challenges related to documentary research and boosted their confidence as they prepare to enter professional life.
